Nico comes clean to Percy about his prior crush on him but clarifies that he’s moved on, as Percy is no longer his type. They prove to be a good team despite their initial bickering. Nico and Will team up during the Siege of Camp Half-Blood to drive off invading forces from Camp Jupiter. With encouragement from Jason, Nico starts to come to terms with his feelings. Cupid pressures Nico into finally admitting his crush on Percy out loud. Will is named Head Counselor for Camp Half-Blood. Throughout the battle, Will proves himself as a top-notch medic. Will and Nico bravely fight Kronos’ army during the Battle of Manhattan but don’t interact. Once there, he finally accepts Bianca’s death and begins to regard Percy as a friend. Eventually, Nico returns to Camp Half-Blood with Percy and the others. Nico gradually realizes that he has been manipulated by Minos. She encourages Nico to move on and to not hold a grudge against the others over what happened to her. – Minos talks Nico into attempting to revive Bianca, which puts the son of Hades at odds with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. During this time, Nico learns how to better control his powers and he becomes adept at shadow-traveling and summoning the undead. Nico starts hanging out with Minos, the evil son of Zeus and king of Crete. Angry, depressed, and isolated, Nico officially enters his goth era. Following Bianca’s tragic death, Nico becomes enraged at Percy for “failing to protect her.” In his anger, Nico summons skeletons from the Underworld, revealing him as the son of Hades. Nico and his sister Bianca meet Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Thalia, and Apollo before entering Camp Half-Blood. Warning: major spoilers ahead for all books in the Riordanverse!
